TRANSPARENCY Solomon Islands (TSI) has successfully held a one-day accountability training to strength en its staff-youths’ capacity, and advocacy efforts.
The training took place at the Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI) office on Thursday 21 st August 2025. The session brought together staff and six youth participants from the TSI Youth for Democracy network.
The insightful discussions focused on accountability in journalism, responsible information sharing, and effective advocacy techniques. TSI’s Support Internship officer and facilitator, Harry Bisafo described the training as a “refresher.”

“This session is just to relay what I have learned in accountability journalism and investigative journalism including identifying appropriate
approaches for TSI in its advocacy, getting information and disseminating it out to the public.”
He stressed that this is particularly vital for TSI’s younger advocates to identify proper and ethical methods of information gathering and appropriate use social media and other platforms to disseminate Information.
Youth participant, Keith Mamaloni said the training taught him to be responsibility in public communication.
““I’ve learned to take ownership whatever think I say or do on whatever platform. I must keep it accountable and transparency and integrity is important when we talk about those stuff people will look at what you preach so it is important when it comes to accountability determine what I do in my organisations.”
Bisafo also extended his appreciation to MASI and funder Internews for making the training possible.
“Many thanks to MASI and Internews for organizing this training,” he said, “As a facilitator, I also learned a lot and I am 100 percent sure that the participants are walking away with valuable knowledge.”
