The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC), in partnership with ABC International Development, has successfully hosted a three-day workshop focused on strengthening radio broadcasting skills for local media practitioners.
The workshop brought together six radio programmers and journalists who participated throughout the three days in intensive practical and interactive sessions aimed at enhancing professional broadcasting standards.
Participants received training on scriptwriting, programme planning, and effective on-air discussions, with a strong emphasis on producing clear, engaging, and audience-focused radio content. The sessions also explored techniques for facilitating meaningful discussions, interviewing, and delivering balanced information to listeners.
Facilitators from ABC International Development shared regional and international best practices in radio production, while SIBC provided local context and practical guidance relevant to the Solomon Islands media landscape.
The workshop forms part of ongoing efforts to build the capacity of local broadcasters and strengthen the quality of radio programming across the country, ensuring communities have access to accurate, informative, and engaging content.
