THREE local senior media leaders have taken part in a training aimed at building professional capacity and leadership skills to keep pace with the evolving media landscape.
Supported by the Australian Government, the two-week Advanced General Manager (AGSM) training program was held at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia.
Participants include Robert Iroga, the owner/publisher of Solomon Business Magazine (SBM), Georgina Kekea, owner/publisher of Tavuli News and Lynda Rose Wate Seni, publisher and owner of Sunday Isles.
Media Association of the Solomon Islands (MASI) President, Ofani Eremae extended his appreciation to the Australian Government for th e support.
“Thank you very much for sharing this latest initiative with the Media Association of Solomon Islands, media owners, news leaders, and participants of the program,”Eremae said.
He acknowledged the invaluable experience gained by the participants, emphasizing that such opportunities contribute to the professional growth of Solomon Islands journalists while fostering stronger media ties between the two nations.
“At the outset, let me express MASI’s heartfelt gratitude to the Australian Government and your team at the High Commission in Honiara for providing our members with the opportunity to visit your great country,” he added.
Eremae expressed optimism about future collaborations, stating:
“I believe such visits will go a long way in enhancing the professional development of participating journalists while also strengthening our media partnership. And I do hope that this is just the first of many more trips to come.”
