THE Media Association of the Solomon Islands (MASI) has made History following the official opening of its new office on Wednesday 12th February 2025.
Located at NPF Plaza Room 21, Point Cruz, the new space will serve as a hub to host the association’s key programmes including board meetings, workshops and other related activities.
The office is part of the Australian Government ongoing support to local media sector delivered through the Pacific Media Assistance Scheme (PACMAS) under its Australian Media Sector Partnership.
Speaking at the small opening ceremony, MASI President Ofani Eremae described the achievement as a “significant milestone”.
“This marks not only the physical establishment of an office but also strengthens our media landscape.”
Eemae added that the office will be the heart of collaboration among journalists and a “beacon of press freedom and professional excellence.”
Australian High Commission’s Political Counselor Cameron Darragh said the support aligns with Australia’s commitment to build a professional and resilient media sector.
He also expressed excitement to be a part of the association’s journey in realizing its goals and vision.
“This is a great initiative, and Australia is happy to be a part of the journey,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by MASI board members and representatives from PACMAS and the Australian High Commission office.
