BOARD members of the Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI) held an engaging discussion with the President of the Media Council of Papua New Guinea (PNG), Neville Choi, during his visit to Honiara in mid-August 2025.
Choi, a senior PNG journalist and Acting Project Manager of the Pacific Media Assistance Scheme (PACMAS), took time to visit the MASI office, where he met with Board Members Ned Gagahe, Eddie Osifelo, Ednal Palmer, and MASI Coordinator Angella Hou.
During the meeting, Choi shared insights into how the PNG Media Council operates — including its history, membership, achievements, and the challenges it continues to face.
MASI board members, in turn, outlined the Association’s own operations, recent successes, and the ongoing issues faced by local media practitioners in the Solomon Islands.
Both sides also explored potential areas of collaboration and discussed how their respective media bodies could work together to strengthen media standards and support journalists across both countries.
